Operations Manager (Contract) – Aerospace Manufacturing
We’re supporting a leading aerospace engineering business specialising in machined and fabricated aero structures. They are looking for an experienced Operations Manager/Operations Leader to provide hands-on operational support during a critical period of transformation.

The Role
As the Operations Leader, you’ll be responsible for strengthening core operational management practices across the business. You’ll be driving clarity, improving workflow efficiency, embedding SQDCP/KPI controls, and ensuring consistent “right material, right place, right time” execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse current operational processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
- Develop and implement improved workflows, controls, and performance measures to boost productivity and throughput
- Introduce and embed SQDCP/KPIs, dashboards, and accountability structures
- Lead cross-functional workshops, engaging with stakeholders to align processes and drive operational discipline
- Support improvements in planning, scheduling, and material flow to ensure right-first-time performance
- Provide coaching and change-management support to help teams adopt new processes and behaviours sustainably
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong background in operations management, manufacturing operations, or operational excellence
- Experience within complex industrial or aerospace environments
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to diagnose issues and translate findings into actionable improvements
- Proven track record implementing SQDCP/KPIs and structured performance management
- Confident stakeholder engagement and ability to drive behavioural and process change
- Knowledge of production control, material flow, and shop-floor processes
- Proficient in lean tools and problem-solving techniques (5 Why, 8D, A3)
Contract Details
- Rate: £350–£375 per day (Outside IR35)
- Location: Sheffield area – must be local (within ~45 mins), no travel/accommodation offered
- Start: Mid-January
- Duration: 6 months+
